The Biennial Miss St Helena pageant contest will kick off on Saturday the 12th May 2018 at 18:30 GMT this sold out event on St Helena is forecast to attract viewers from all around the world.
Live audio and live video streaming of this popular event has been made possible thanks to SURE South Atlantic who is also a key corporate sponsor of the event.
The live video stream will be available to viewers via the Miss St Helena face book page for those who are not Facebook users can still enjoy the event via live commentary from the outside broadcast via Saint FM Community Radio who will also take their studio to this year’s event.
The event will take place at the Prince Andrew school which incidentally is the largest venue on St Helena that can seat just over 400 people. Tickets for the event (430) sold out within minutes after going on sale in Jamestown last week, some who were hoping to purchase tickets and attend the event were extremely disappointed to learn that no more tickets were available However all was not lost as Darrin Henry the Chairman of the Miss St Helena committee announced via the Miss St Helena 2018 Facebook page that the event will be broadcasted via Sure’s local TV service on the national geographic channel.
Although this is great news for subscribers to the TV service, Sure would like to remind TV subscribers that this one-off broadcast does not form part of their high quality technical services and the equipment use is not of broadcast quality and the environment at the event is not ideal for production purposes and there will be a reduction in normal quality.
Doors will open at 6 PM and the show will start at 6.30 pm. Saint FM will hand over to the outside broadcast just after six to begin their transmission.
Amongst the many great prizes that will be won on the night by the contestants will be a media award that will be presented to the contestant who has demonstrated great communication skills over the last four weeks during the organised workshops leading up to the big event.
The winner of Miss St Helena 2018 will win a new laptop and a silver broadband package sponsored by Sure South Atlantic along with a return flight ticket to Johannesburg.
This years Miss St Helena will be another highlighted event for 2018 as the over whelming support has been outstanding both from the public and corporate sponsors. Live video streaming is also a first ever and a ground-breaking achievement as this is the first time an event has been streamed over the internet from St Helena.
After parties have been scheduled at Rosie’s Bar at ladder Hill and Donny’s Bar at the sea front to celebrate the Miss St Helena 2018.
