Abnormal St Helena weather forecast has delayed this weeks scheduled SA Airlink flight to St Helena.
Passengers who were booked on this Saturdays flight outbound from Johannesburg to St Helena have been told at the Airport to collect their baggage and they will be accommodated at the Southern Sun Hotel in Johannesburg for the second night running.
SA Airlink, the airline that operates the weekly air service has told passengers they will reassess the situation prior to flying to St Helena.
This is the longest time a flight has been delayed since the St Helena Air service started last year.
Meanwhile back on St Helena the weather has deteriorated with very low fog over the last few days and it is predicted that the winds might pick up slightly over the next few days.
Social media postings from passengers who are delayed and is scheduled to travel to St Helena indicates that SA Airlink has been keeping the delayed passengers well informed about the situation and will regroup in the morning (Monday) to decide on the way forward.
Travelling back to the Island on this delayed flight is the St Helena Commonwealth Games team who are returning from the Gold Coast Games.
Passengers who are awaiting to catch the outbound flight from St Helena are unable to plan onward travel for hotels or connecting flights until more news is available.
Incidentally two of the passengers who are scheduled to travel on the out bound flight from St Helena this week was delayed getting to St Helena for a week as they had missed their flight from Jo-burg three weeks ago as a result of a late connection from Europe.
